BUAYA SARATOK DITANGKAP??BUAYA PKR SARATOK BILA LAGI??

SARATOK:  The perseverance of Sarawak Forestry Corporation paid off after catching a number of crocodiles a few days ago.Their first catch was a nine-foot-long female crocodile caught throught the hook and line at the mouth of Sg Anak in Roban.Tuai Rumah Embol Asom from Sg Anak, Pelunga Roban when met by reporters said longhouse residents who were passing through the area found the hook and baits laid by SFC had been eaten by the reptiles.

“As soon as they confirmed the incident, they quickly informed me and I quickly contacted the authorities concerned.“I also directed my men to  secure the area while waiting for SFC to arrive to ensure the crocodile did not escape.” “However, upon the arrival of longhouse team at the site, we found the a hook and line missing. But as the fishing rods was affixed to plastic gallons capable of holding up to 12 litres of water, it was difficult for the crocodile to escape.”

He said the team together with SFC finally found the missing rod about 50 metres from the river mouth. They tried to lift the crocodile from the river bed by pulling it but it was no easy stuff. The reporters who also went to the scene found all efforts meeting a dead end as the tide was coming in.

At about 2pm, a group from Kampung Empelam who were also interested in the catch, came with a medium-sized fishing boat to assist SFC to get the crocodile from the water. The team used their boat to pull the reptile. Finally at 2.15pm the nine-foot long crocodile was ‘landed’. It was however dead believed to have drowned after the rod got struck on dead wood in the river bed.

The dead reptile was brought to Tr Embol and then buried after the collection of data was executed by the SFC.
‘We will make sure that those ‘sinful’ reptiles will be caught’.
Crocodile shaman Indet Sanabong, 49, when met by reporters at the scene said he would keep on hunting for the reptile nicknamed ‘Bujang Seblak’ from (yesterday) evening.

“We will lay five more rods at different locations in ubok Mulong and designated areas where the crocodile were often sighted by the villagers. We will make sure that those ‘sinful’ reptiles will be caught as meted in my chantings and our pledge as a crocodile shaman,” said Indet.
Thousnads of people flooded Roban yesterday, especially at Sebalak bridge, to catch a glimpse of the caught crocodile.
